Located south east of the Domberg, in the suburb of Wunderburg, an area of genuine Bamberg is still alive.
The Mahr's Braeu, first time ever mentioned in a document in the year of 1602.

In 1895, the farmer Johann Michel Jr., the grandfather of today's owner Ingmar MICHEL, purchased the brewery and the rock cave at Stephansberg.
The brewing tradition of the Michel's family is approaching the fourth generation. Almost no other business in Bamberg was able to "knot" modernization with traditional values, like the old-established Wunderburg brewery.

The brewery guesthouse of the Michel family is also a part of the Mahr's Braeu history. They feel bound to tradition and were able, even today, to preserve the traditional atmosphere of the house.

The wonderful tasting beer, not only recommended by beer connoisseurs, is still traditionally drawn from oak barrels. Also the native Franconian cuisine can be enjoyed at the old fashioned guesthouse or at the quiet, cozy dining room.
